The Aries Belly Dancer:
Aries in Dance is Bold &Dynamic
Aries is symbolized by the Ram and is ruled by Mars, planet of war and action. The colour is red and Aries rules the head. The Aries character is bold, daring, charismatic, pioneering, independent, straight-forward, energetic and strong. Arie's natural charisma makes her very sexy and self-assured! The Aries character creates a confident dancer.
A fire sign, Aries is excitable and ready to try new things without hesitation! In dance, Aries is comfortable in a dynamic, lead role in a troupe or does brilliantly in a solo dance, using bold gesture, particularly in the cabaret style. Explore movements that gesture outwardly and highlight the head.
All Aries bellydancers should have one stunning red colored costume. A glittering red two piece cabaret costume or deep red velvet Saiidi dress helps Aries express her dynamism. Coins, head wear and ornate headbands can be worn to highlight the head.
Aries is a power-house of a dancer who can engage an audience wholeheartedly - they also have a sense of fun and boldness when they perform! Aries dancers smile a lot, sometimes even laugh when they dance. They often pioneer new styles or movements in the dance world. They are extremely creative and like to try new or modern styles.

First Belly Dance Performance
April 29, 2011
Birthday Celebration at Nicola's, April 2, 2011
I discovered that a woman I met at an event where I was dong photography is a belly dancer. I looked at her Facebook friends list and saw other beautiful Black belly dancers such as herself. I reached out to these women online, and had the opportunity to meet them on my birthday at Nicola's Lebanese Restaurant. It was such an inspiring experience to be around them. Can you say best birthday ever??!!?

The Beginning
My first encounter with belly dance was in a walk-in belly dance workout class. I'm not sure how I found out about belly dance; I was most likely just searching for a fun way to get some exercise. After one workout class I was smitten, but for a while I couldn't afford to take classes on a consistent basis. In December 2010, I began practicing belly dance using instructional DVDs at home, and on January 9, 2011, I started taking belly dance classes.
